Aviation Displays at the International Fleet Review – Sydney 2013


Sydney Harbour played host to the International Fleet Review 2013 from October 3-11.  The review was held to commemorate the centenary of the first entry of the Royal Australian Navy Fleet into Sydney. In addition to the fleet of Australian and foreign warships on display during the week a number of aviation displays took place. Here is a small selection of images from the aviation displays.

Air India’s inaugural Boeing 787 service to Melbourne


Today Air India became the first carrier to operate the Boeing 787 Dreamliner on a commercial service into Melbourne International Airport.  The Dreamliner registered VT-ANK touched down on runway 34 just before midday.

Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation CA-12 Boomerang at the Barossa Airshow


During the 2013 Barossa Airshow crowds were fortunate to see and hear the CA-12 Boomerang flying. This aircraft (Registered VH-XBL) is only one of two still flying. The Bommerang is an Australian designed and built fighter that was produced between 1942 and 1945 as such it is a rare and important part of Australian aviation history.

Chris Sperou Aerobatics at the Barossa Airshow 2013


Australian Aerobatic legend Chris Sperou put on his usual amazing displays during the 2013 Barossa Airshow. Chris has won the Australian Aerobatic championship 13 times and is considered the grandfather of aerobatics in Australia. Chris flies Pitts S-1-11B VH-XPS, which is the only one of its kind currently flying in the country.
